Jay Petervary

I prefer being called an Ambassador of Sport over Ultra Endurance Athlete. I have an addiction and strong passion for riding long events, very long events, in the winter and the worse the conditions the more I thrive!

Favorite 45NRTH tire
Hüsker Dü in either size is my go to endurance race tire although it’s hard not to love a little Vanhelga-NATION when it comes to true white single-track.

Favorite 45NRTH piece of non-rubber gear
The Greazy Cap is an all time favorite soft good. The Wølfgar boot has been the biggest innovation of gear in my long distance kit that has had the biggest impact in quite some time.

Favorite, or most notable, winter fat bike accomplishment or experience
10x Iditarod Trail Invitational competitor (several wins in both the 350 and 1000 mile distances. I still hold a record on the South Route to Nome), 7 Arrowhead 135 finishes (3 wins). Hosting the Fat Pursuit and FAT Camp offers a whole different level of accomplishment for me as watching and teaching others provides me with more satisfaction than a personal ride accomplishment.

Biggest piece of advice you have to a new rider
Don’t do what I do! smile Dress lighter then you think. If you are comfortable in body temperature at the start of your ride, you are probably overdressed.
