I’m a rider who is better at short stuff, but likes the long stuff! I like my tire pressure on the high side, stems on the long side, Hi-Viz anything and Indian food that is paralyzingly hot! I’m always down for gas station cheeseburgers on a longerish ride. And I’m recovering from an energy drink problem…
Favorite 45NRTH tire
There is one that rules them all, Vanhelga. You can ride that tire with confidence on packed snow, loose snow, hard dirt, loose dirt, you name it. If you need only one tire, this is it!
Favorite 45NRTH piece of non-rubber gear
Greazy cap. From -15 degrees to 45 degrees, this piece is perfect! It regulates temperature better than any merino wool item I’ve ever had.
Favorite, or most notable, winter fat bike accomplishment or experience
13th overall at the 2018 Fat Bike World championships or 8th overall at 2018 Cuyuna Whiteout, it was a good week. World’s was one of those days where I made natural selection on the roll out and looked back and said “no sh*t!, I finally did it!” That lasted all of 15 minutes but it did set me up for a pretty decent race that day. Cuyuna, it snowed 3 inches during the race and made for a fun bike handling day, something I’m usually not that dialed in on, but it was super fun and I’ll always remember how the trees looked!
Biggest piece of advice you have to a new rider
Be patient with yourself. Base for everything takes time. Make it a lifestyle and you will enjoy every minute of it. A friend just recently said to me, “I’ve never regretted a bike ride”. It is 100% true.
