We thought it could not get any better, but we found a way to make it lighter and even more supple than the original. Today we are introducing the new and improved Hüsker Dü with a superlight 120tpi casing and folding bead. At a mere 1240 grams, you can climb faster and accelerate with cheetah-like speed. At lower pressures, you can also roll over obstacles with more finesse.
What's different and how does it work?
The secret is in the casing. We were able to make a thinner 120 tpi casing that reduces weight and makes the tire more supple. A handy way of thinking about it is to compare the fabric on a pair of jeans to the fabric of a fine silk sheets. The fabric on jeans is heavy and does not easily conform to the body. Compare this to the light feeling of silk that conforms very nicely to any surface it comes into contact with. The same is true with tire casings. A thinner, more compliant casing will reduce weight and absorb surface undulations better than a thicker casing that wants to deflect off of objects. Simply put, thinner casings roll faster and smoother. Pretty cool, isn't it?
The new and improved Hüsker Dü will start shipping to dealers starting on June 13th. Go get 'em!
